Mastering the Millennial Mindset: Bridging the Gap Between Tradition and Innovation
Today’s students have been described as impatient, unmotivated, and disinterested in learning. In reality,  Millennials desperately want to learn, but simply have evolved past the Industrial Age instructional model that is familiar and comfortable for teachers. This presentation will provide and in-depth background of how Millennials think, work, and view the world, along with strategies to tailor lessons, assessments, and classroom management to accommodate their unique learning styles and preferences.

SAMR-cize It!  Technology Tweaks for Lessons and Assessments
The SAMR model isn’t just another educational acronym to store away for later; it’s a method of seeing how teaching digitally might revolutionize your classroom and instructional practice.  Based on the four levels of technology integration: Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition, SAMR allows teachers to decide how, and to what extent, they would like to enhance their lessons and assessments to meet the needs of 21st century students.  This presentation also includes a work and coaching session to help you apply the SAMR model to existing lessons.

Assess and De-Stress: A Standards-Referenced Approach to Grading
Endless piles of worksheets, gradebooks, and percentages have gone the way of the rotary phone and the cassette tape.  21st century teachers are simply too busy handling the demands of a rigorous curriculum and the ever-changing needs of students to rely on older models of assessment and data collection.  In this presentation, we discuss how to use Robert Marzano’s standards-referenced reporting model to create streamlined assessment banks that truly focus on student learning, and how to motivate and empower students to take control of their own grades through goal-setting and data collection. This presentation also includes a work and coaching session to help you apply the principles of standards-referenced reporting to existing lessons and assessments.
