David Ulrich, Ed. D.

Dr. David Ulrich is currently the Deputy Director of Secondary Education for the North Kansas City School District. His responsibilities include maximizing the success of 4 high schools, 5 middle schools, as well as overseeing career and college readiness programs. This encompasses nearly 10,000 students ranging from urban to suburban settings. Previously, Dr. Ulrich served as the Director of Student Services for the Raymore-Peculiar District where he oversaw administration of residency compliance, McKinney-Vento (homeless) services coordination, and facilitation of the district’s guidance department. Prior to that, he was the principal of Lee’s Summit North High School for 6 years. During that time, LSNHS was consistently recognized for achievement, including being named to the U.S. News World and Report “Best High Schools in the United States” multiple times.

Group Facilitation: Leading a group of educators through a change process can often be difficult. This session will challenge conventional wisdom of the change process. Participants will be introduced to emerging practices on how develop strategic thinking among groups to ensure goal alignment and attainment. (Principals, building leadership teams, boards of education w/superintendents)

Engaging Adult Learners: Often, the way we engage our adult learners is contrary to the very practices we would expect to see in our classrooms. This session will combine the latest brain research with practical strategies that you can use immediately to maximize efficiency of time and ensure your message is received. (educators tasked with leading groups)

Building Leadership Structure: For principals and those who lead principals, building leadership structures can be a major impediment to setting and reaching goals effectively. This session will give participants the skills to evaluate a building’s leadership structure and determine next steps to maximize principal and teacher-leader effectiveness.
