Presentation Topics:

Behavior Response to Intervention:  From Emotions to Solutions

Brain Smart Behavior Basics:
To be able to respond to problem behavior in children, we must first understand the neurology behind it.  Becoming “brain smart” about behavior is important to be able to provide the right amount of grace with accountability.  This session can be catered to specifics on neurobehavioral development at different stages of the child’s life.

Building the classroom culture:

Adults need to be able to respond to behavior instead of react in order to create meaningful problem solving opportunities and behavioral change for children.  This session helps develop the adult’s ability to do that and also helps put classroom structures in place that serve to create a classroom culture conducive to optimum learning.

Proactive Behavior Management:

All students and teachers deserve to have a great tier 1 system of positive behavior supports in place.  In this session, strategies for proactive classroom management will be taught, designed, and ready to implement in the classroom.

The Science of Behavior:

Understanding of the science of behavior will help the tools we have learned work more effectively.  Learn why the same intervention, reward and consequence can have varying effects on behavior in different students.

Build a Behavior Student Assistance Team:

Learn how to apply the RTI model to address behavior challenges in your students and your building.  In this session we will lay the groundwork for why we need to problem solve behavior using RTI, how to build your team, and how to build capacity in your entire school for handling behavior

Be a Behavior Detective:

Finding the missing skills:  Persistent problem behavior is likely a sign of missing Executive Functioning skills or Theory of Mind skills.  Gain some foundational knowledge of what these are and how to begin targeting these with kids who have behavioral differences.  After your staff gains these foundational ideas, we can also move on to more in depth work in this area.

Writing Behavior Plan:

This will be a session on building a comprehensive behavior plan with all of the components necessary to address challenging behavior in specific students.  A working knowledge of behavior science will be helpful in understanding the keys to a successful plan.  How to incorporate data collection and fidelity checks will also be addressed in this session.
